The Troy Police Department has used a grant of more than $5,000 to buy riot gear for its officers.
The department has purchased 12 riot shields, 12 riot helmets and eight power flare 2 packs (LED flares).
The grant was awarded by the Spirit of Blue Foundation, which is based in Chicago. Sgt. Sam Carello submitted the application for the grant.
